Appointments

Consultations may be conducted in-person for those in the Toledo, Ohio area. All other consultations will be conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth video chat or via phone call — whichever the client prefers. Video chat is preferred for virtual consultations, as it allows the consultant to visually assess the client. If you are interested in an in-person consultation, please schedule a complimentary consultation here and indicate this on the form.

Kelly Desch is a Multi-State Licensed Registered Nurse. As part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, we can provide consultations to individuals residing in or visiting any of the compact states on the day of the consultation. However, at this time, consultations CANNOT be provided to those residing in Alaska, California, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, or Oregon.
Currently, consultations are available to Michigan residents, but only if the consultation takes place in Ohio, either in-person or virtually. The Michigan resident must be physically in Ohio at the time of the consultation. This list will be updated as new information becomes available, so please check back if you are currently residing in one of the restricted states.

Yes. Function First Health requires you to have your own Primary Care Provider, as we do not provide acute or emergent care services. Instead, we work closely with you as a consultant using preventative, nutritional, and functional approaches to help you address the root cause of your chronic health challenges.

Please complete any consent forms and questionnaires sent to you via our HIPAA-compliant, secure portal when booking a consultation. We understand the initial paperwork may feel overwhelming, but your detailed responses provide valuable insights into your past and current health status. This information helps the consultant better understand your health journey and current challenges. Rest assured, all information is kept strictly confidential.

Consultations must be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance. If the appointment is not canceled or rescheduled within this time frame, 100% of the consultation fee will be forfeited. This policy ensures the highest level of service for all clients, as last-minute openings cannot be filled. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

We allow a 10-minute grace period for joining your virtual or in-person consultation. If you arrive within this time, the consultation will proceed but will still end at the scheduled time. Late arrivals are not eligible for partial refunds.

We do not participate with any insurance carriers; all services are self-pay. To ease the financial burden, we offer payment plans on all packages, retail and discounted pricing for self-pay labs, and reduced prices on recommended vitamins and supplements.

Generally, consulting services provided by an RN can be paid for using a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), as nursing services are typically considered qualified medical expenses under most health insurance plans. However, it’s important to check your specific plan to confirm eligibility and determine if any documentation, such as a letter of medical necessity from your doctor, is required.

Optimal health is an ongoing process, and results vary by individual. It likely took years to reach your current state of health, and achieving wellness will require time, effort, and mindfulness. At Function First Health, we build a partnership that may last months or even years, depending on your needs and goals. Some may experience significant improvement within the first few weeks, while others may take longer. We recommend committing to at least 3-6 months for the best results. We’re here to support you every step of the way!

At Function First Health, we commonly address autoimmune conditions, brain health, chronic issues (fatigue, inflammation, pain), detoxification, genomic SNPs (single-nucleotide polymorphisms, pronounced 'snips'), gut health, hormones, movement, and nutrition.

Yes, Function First Health does work with children, but as with adults, we require that they have a Pediatrician or Primary Care Provider, as the consultant does not provide acute or emergent care services.

Yes, Function First Health works with cancer patients. However, we do not replace the care of a specialized oncologist. Instead, we focus on educating cancer patients about the importance of detoxification, lifestyle, and nutrition to support their healing process during, or after, treatment, including those in remission.

Testing is not required to see benefits, but many clients choose testing in order to better understand the underlying causes of their symptoms, which can lead to faster results. I highly recommend the nutritional DNA test, as it provides valuable insights into your nutrient needs, lifestyle changes needed for optimal health, and potential genetic risks. It can be life-changing! If you have had any testing done within the past year, please upload the results to the client portal at least 48 hours prior to your initial consultation.

Federal law prevents healthcare providers from accepting cash payments from Medicare beneficiaries. As Function First Health is cash only, we are unable to offer services to Medicare beneficiaries.
